Academic Advising Services

How We Support You
Our college advising teams provide comprehensive support to help you navigate your academic journey, including (but not limited to):
- Goal Setting and Relevant Planning: Identifying goals and educational planning to support those goals and achieve academic milestones on their journey toward graduation
- General Education & Degree Requirements: Guidance on fulfilling UCSC’s General Education and university requirements.
- Major Exploration & Declaration: Support for engaging with intentional major exploration, understanding major qualification requirements, and how to plan for multiple plans, plan for the declaration process, and potential transition between majors.
- Academic Policies & Procedures: Support in understanding university policies, handling academic petitions, and making informed decisions about enrollment options.
- Academic Support & Resources: Connection to tutoring services, learning support programs, and other or campus resources.
- Enrollment Support: A primary function of the Office of the Registrar, colleges may support students with course enrollment challenges for complex or unique scenarios.
- Enrollment Assistance: Help with adding, swapping, or dropping courses, resolving enrollment issues, and planning for future quarters.
How to Connect with an Advisor

- Drop-In Advising: Available for quick questions and general support during scheduled hours (via Zoom or in-person).
- Peer Advisors: Well-trained student leaders available to answer general advising questions, assist with enrollment, and share student insights.
- Staff Advisors: Professional academic advisors available for in-depth guidance on course planning, major exploration, and academic policies.
- Email Support: Each college has a dedicated advising email for quick inquiries and document submissions.
- Appointments: Schedule a one-on-one advising session through Slug Success (virtual and in-person options available).
